What can be done in Annaberg in the summer? Hiking, mountainbiking, schwimming, Salzburg

simply too many to list...

Hiking/Climbing

Directly from our front door, you can go for fantastic walks, which can be short, take all day or even last for several days. The photo shows the Stuhlalm, 2 hours walk from our house or 1.5 hours from Parkplatz Pommer (5 minutes by car).

Annaberg lies in the middle of the Dachstein-West hiking area and the Donnerkogelbahn (a 10-minute walk from our holiday home) will take you up in only 8 minutes to the hiking plateau at an altitude of 1,800 metres, with many routes, alpine pastures and huts. Ook zijn er mogelijkheden om te klimmen (klettersteigen).

Other hiking areas are accessible by car within half an hour: Abtenau (15 minutes), Filzmoos, Flachau, Maria Alm/Dienten and the Postalm. In Werfenweng you can go up in the Ikarus gondola lift and view Grossglockner if the weather is fine.

E-bike

In recent years there has been a heavy investment in developing mountain bike routes. A trip on an e-bike is simply great. Both mountain bikes and e-bikes can be hired at Höll in Abtenau.

Swimming

Nearby are 2 nature baths and a swimming pool (all three accessible by car within 20 minutes). And for when the weather is less favourable, a 30-minute drive gets you to the Aqua Salza in Golling (covered swimming pool with sauna).

Especially for children

In Annaberg, Gaudi-golf is all the rage: combine playing golf and hiking with your children. In Abtenau, there is a long 'Sommerrodelbahn' (or Alpine slide) and a playground where your children can climb and jump. Enjoy a snack and something to drink while you keep an eye on them. In Russbach, little ones can have fun in 'Bruno's Welt' playground. En vlakbij Salzburg Zuid is een klimpark: Kletterpark Anif (40-minute drive from our holiday home).

Culture

And if you want to soak up some culture, you can be in Salzburg within one hour. You can go shopping (for example, in the covered Europark shopping centre, the also covered Designer Outlet Salzburg or the old inner city), eat fabulous food, visit museums, attend a concert or go to the zoo, the Hohensalzburg fortress or the Hellbrunn Schlosspark.

But also, Berchtesgaden is well worth a visit, featuring amongst others, a climb or bus trip up to the Kehlsteinhaus or a visit to the Dokumentationszentrum Obersalzberg. Other popular attractions are the salt mines in Hallein, Hohenwerfen Castle and the ice grottoes in Werfen. Or the romantic Salzkammergut with the Halstättersee and the Wolfgangsee, the Sissi town of Bad Ischl, etc....
